JIM WALKER'S LOG HOME CARE
LOG HOMES MADE NEW AGAIN

*Handmade Cherrywood Pipes and More *

As you can see from my home site , my buisness is quite seasonal , leaving me time in the winter months to pursue my other interest , Pipemaking , Pipe restoring , and basically anything related to pipes.

My main interest is making high quality pipes from local cherrywood here in Creston , one of the premier Cherry growing areas of the world.

My cherrywood comes from some of the many orchards in Creston , such as the one in the background picture , the trees are pruned heavily at certain times and I try to collect some of the nicer pieces which are then aged and cured to perfection so that I have a high quality wood to begin with.

Many people believe that cherrywood is one of the better mediums for pipes as it adds an extra element of flavour to the smoke , this is evident in the fact that all my shavings and other wood unsuitable for pipes usually goes for smoking foods and flavoring meats on the bar-b-q.

On this page you will find the thumbnails of my Cherrywood pipes as well as some nicely restored estate pipes, just click on the links under them for larger pics , if you need any more info or have a question , feel free to email me thru the contact info.

Enjoy yourself and thanks for looking.

This pipe is made from a piece of Byng Cherrywood that was aged for almost thirty years , I was lucky to find this piece and will only have a few pipes available that are made from it . This pipe has a small area on the bottom that has some incredibly small stress cracks in the wood , these are almost invisible unless you really look for them , they will not change at all and in no way affect the way this pipe smokes. The good thing about them is that you get a nice pipe at an even nicer price , I will let this one go for $50.00 . Pipe has a huge 1"x 2-1/4" tobacco chamber , 5-1/2" long x 2-1/2" high , stem is a vintage mettalic swirl lucite.

This pipe is made from the same piece as the above pipe , bowl is large , 1"dia.x 2" deep with almost 3/8"thick walls , overall length is about 9 1/4". Stem is Tiger swirl lucite with matching shank insert. There are two contrasting hardwood inserts in the bottom. This pipe has a unique draght hole in the bowl that comes up from the bottom of the bowl instead of through the side as most pipe do , it is my hope that it will smoke more efficiently this way , much like the bowl in a gourd calabash. $75.00
