JIM WALKER'S LOG HOME CARE
LOG HOMES MADE NEW AGAIN

On the right is the Bear Lodge, the oldest of four lodges at Island Lake Resort near Fernie BC.

It is built of larch logs and was severely weathered and penetrated by many years of dust and dirt, you can see how nice it looks after blasting, you can see some cedar siding that was blast cleaned on the far right. >>>>>>>>>>

Below is another larch log building, this one was a guest house on Kootenay lake,it was severely sundamaged and mildewed,it came out looking better than new.

In the photo you can see me doing the actual blasting of the logs.

To the right is the same cabin from a different side, this was the worst wall.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

In the next photo you can see what this wall looked like about two hours later, after blasting, the log ends have also been sanded down to a smooth finish. We also blasted and refinished the soffits and fascias on this cabin.>>>>>

To the right you can see a closeup of the mildew that was growing on this house,I've refinished other houses that looked worse than this due to pressure washing and then finishing, sealing the moisture in the logs creating a perfect environment for mildew and black mold.>>>>>>>>>>>>

Notice how it is all gone and completely dry where it has been blasted.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

BELOW is a house that was burned and discolored by many years of exposure to the sun, without a proper finish on it.To the right of it is the house after blasting, the corner logs were tapered out at the bottom and were rotten from rain and snow damage,we cut them off straight and sanded them smooth and filled in any imperfections before finishing.

>>>>>>>>>>

Below is part of the above house with the chinking partially done,we removed the old hard cracked chinking and replaced it with PermaChink flexible chinking,it comes in many colors and can be applied inside and outside. Chinking is a great way to protect your house from insects as well as increasing energy efficiency.

Below is a house getting a coat of Sikkens Cetol 1,our most popular, and one of the most durable finishes,it comes in many shades,we apply many other finishes, water or oil based, whatever you like,or I can reccomend one for your specific application.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

This house on kootenay Lake had a dark finish and was severely sun damaged in many areas.

We blast cleaned all log work as well as soffits , we blasted and sanded door and window trim , and sanded all log ends to a smooth finish.

The logs were treated with 4 coats of Cetol 1 for a very durable finish.

This cedar Pan-Abode was severely discolored due to being coated with a finish that was not breathable , causing mold and mildew to grow underneath it.

We blast cleaned it and coated with 2 coats of Cetol 1.

The owner of this 100 year old house was doing a major restoration and wanted all the old paint removed before repainting it to it's original white color.

I don't know what they made paint from 100 years ago , but it was the hardest coating we have ever tried  to remove , we had to use extra coarse blasting media to break thru the outer layer of paint.

We blast cleaned all door and window trim as well as soffitts , facias , and hand rails.
